90 days from now, the public-comment period for Marcellus Shale gas drilling in New York will come to an end. The DEC released its final report in the potential effects of natural gas drilling via the controversial method known as hydrofracking.

The report is a whopping 1500 pages, and I’ve read through about 600 of them. So far, I see environmental regulations which could potentially protect valuable and vulnerable watersheds, but the level of regulation needed to make this a safe practice is still lacking.
